Tomas Berdych takes on Sergiy Stakhovsky in the second round of the Rogers Cup later today.

Stakhovsky stunned Richard Gasquet in round one on Monday, defeating the Frenchman 7-5, 6-1 to end a four match losing streak. Stakhovsky won his third ATP title in Holland in June but had struggled since then. However against Gasquet he was always in command, reeling off six straight games in the second set.

Berdych will be hoping to improve on his displays in Washington. The Czech looked quite rusty after taking a long post-Wimbledon break and went out in the quarters to Xavier Malisse.
These two have never played before. Berdych is the seventh seed this week and will be looking to consolidate his place in the top ten with some strong performances over the next couple of weeks.
