Tomas Berdych is going for his third win in three days against Andrey Golubev in the Davis Cup.
Berdych came into the tie knowing he would probably need to win three rubbers in three days and the world number seven has been solid as a rock so far, steadying his team-mates jitters with a couple of classy performances.
Kazakhstan stunned Switzerland in September's World Group playoffs and there were a few nervy looks among the Czech camp after Andrey Golubev took out Jan Hajek in five sets to give Kazakhstan the lead.
However Berdych coolly saw off Mikhail Kukushkin 7-6, 6-2, 6-3 before teaming up with Lukas Dlouhy to defeat the inexperienced pairing of Evgeny Korolev and Yuri Schukin in Saturday's doubles.
If Golubev can pull off an upset here it would set up a fascinating fifth rubber between Hajek and Kukushkin which could really go either way so there is considerable pressure on Berdych to wrap this up.
Berdych looked the more impressive of the two men on day one but Golubev is a streaky shotmaker and if he comes out firing this could become interesting.
Berdych has won both their previous two matches on the tour, in straight sets at Wimbledon last year and then a tight three setter in Washington in the summer.
