Thomaz Bellucci will continue his Queens campaign with a second round clash against Marsel Ilhan on Wednesday

Thomaz Bellucci isn’t considered to be one of the favourites to win this year’s AEGON Championships, but has the capacity to make a lengthy run here if he can adapt to the grass courts quickly. The young Brazilian came within inches of losing his first round contest against Grigor Dimitrov, but should be more settled now, and will be eyeing up the latter stages of the draw.

Bellucci’s opponent in round two will be Marsel Ilhan of Turkey. Ilhan booked his place in the second round by securing a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Jan Hajek. As the world No. 112, Ilhan should be fairly pleased with his progress so far, but he’ll need to start achieving more back to back wins if he’s to threaten the top hundred. As things stand, the Turk has won 3 of his 9 top-level matches this season.

Bellucci currently holds a 1-0 head to head record against Ilhan, following a single meeting between the pairing last season in Shanghai. Bellucci won the first set of that match with ease, but eventually had to edge a third set tie-breaker in order to defeat Ilhan.
