The Aussie took a 5-0 match record against Li into the matchup, but the margin of her success was still far greater than expected.
"I'm very happy with the way I played,” remarked Stosur in her on-court interview. “To come back from a disappointing loss in my last match and do this is great. Making it to the semifinals here last year will help me. I've learned a lot from all my previous experiences, so I'm hoping this year will be different."
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s action, Stosur said, "The semifinals are tough no matter what the circumstances. I'm not expecting an easy match. I hope I can play like I did tonight."
Li, who hasn’t lost a match this badly since 2006 stated, "Today was not my day. My legs felt really, really heavy today. I really wanted to win because I knew the winner would be in the semis, but I don't know what happened. Of course Sam is playing with a lot of confidence after winning the U.S Open. She always had a tough serve, it's not easy to return.
