Juan Martin Del Potro was the second seed in this year’s IF Stockholm Open, but that didn’t prevent him from falling in the second round. The former U.S Open champion had been expected to find a way past James Blake on Wednesday, but the experienced American was on song, and claimed a 6-4, 6-4 success.

Blake served superbly, and he didn’t have to face a single break point against the Argentine. He took two of four break point opportunities, one in each set, and this was enough to guarantee a berth in the quarter-finals.

Blake has been making a recent resurgence, and he might be able to work his way back into the top fifty if he continues getting results like this. The former world No. 4 will now face either Ivan Dodig or David Nalbandian in what promises to be an exciting matchup, regardless of who Blake ends up facing on the other side of the court.
