Serena Williams has been a question mark for the French Open for quite some time - she has now confirmed that she is NOT playing.
Serena Williams, the thirteen time Grand Slam champion from the USA, has been idle on tour since winning the Wimbledon 2010 final over Vera Zvonareva. The main problem is with her foot as she originally hurt it at a restaurant in Germany while celebrating her victory at the All England Club.
However a blood clot in her lung has also caused problems for the 29-year-old and those problems will continue to prevent her from playing on tour.
Writing on her Twitter page, the American said: "My thanks to all of you guys for the love and support. I will miss Paris however, I am working hard to make my return unforgettable."
Her sister, Venus, is also a doubt for Roland Garros after being out of action since January with a hip injury.
