Djokovic looks like the best player on the men's tour while S. Williams should will her way to the top once again.
On the men's side of the tennis world there are 5 players that have the potential to be the world's number one player at the end of the 2010 season.
They are Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Juan Martin Del Potro, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray. Each of them have betting lines with various sportsbooks to accomplish that feat.
1. Roger Federer, +250 (5/2), Stan James
2. Rafael Nadal, +350 (7/2), Stan James
3. Juan Martin Del Potro, +400 (4/1), bet365
4. Novak Djokovic, +450 (9/2), Sportingbet
5. Andy Murray, +700 (7/1), Sky Bet
Our recommendation for this prop is Novak Djokovic. He's the player that has the right mix of youth, skill, drive, and strength of body that is needed to rise to the top of the ATP rankings.
Federer has a tough act to follow from 2009 and he should be expected to trail off a bit. He is the eldest player in the list above and that should be spelling the beginning of the end sooner than later. A lot of players have experienced first-time success against Federer lately and that's a major hint that his game is not top notch any longer.
It has to end sometime.
Nadal is still within his prime as far as tennis careers go but the odds above do not reflect his nagging injuries and the difficulties he had beating top players during 2009. He's way too big of a risk at +350 for this proposition.
Del Potro and Murray are not terrible picks, especially Murray at +700 (7/1), however they both had injury problems in the final months of the 2009 season. If those problems occur again they could easily lose precious ranking points that they may need to win this proposition.
Djokovic is healthy, he has good odds, he's still young, and he's already shown that he has what it takes to win the majors as he does have a Grand Slam title to his credit (Australian Open 2008).

On the women's side of the tennis world, Stan James are offering betting lines that also allow you to pick who you think will be number 1 on the WTA tour when the 2010 season ends.
Maria Sharapova is among the favorites to be on top of the WTA tour rankings at the end of 2010. With Justine Henin making her return and with all the rising stars that there are on the women's tour the competition for that coveted ranking will certainly be fierce.
Stan James are running a proposition that offers odds that allow you to pick who you think the women's world number 1 player will be at the end of the 2010 season.
Here are the favorites, all odds Stan James:
1. Serena Williams, +200
2. Justine Henin, +500
3. Svetlana Kuznetsova, +500
4. Kim Clijsters, +600
5. Dinara Safina, +800
6. Caroline Wozniacki, +800
7. Maria Sharapova, +2000
8. Venus Williams, +2500
As far as betting tips go this is a very tough proposition however Venus Williams, Dinara Safina, and Caroline Wozniacki should be taken out of the mix. Other than that it actually looks like it could be up for grabs.
Serena Williams is the best athlete in the group and, by a hair, she is the fiercest competitor as well. The problem with her is she loses focus when it comes to the smaller tournaments like Rome and Madrid and those tournaments can certainly make a difference in terms of ranking points. However she really toughens up for the Slams and she can be counted on to win big matches, foot faults and threats aside.
Serena Williams is our recommendation for this proposition.
