Justine Henin's bid to make a Grand Slam winning debut in her second career, falls short.

The 2010 Australian Open women's final is over as it completed Saturday in Melbourne.

The line calls were off, the player challenges were usually right, and Serena's aces were hitting the back wall hard as she took down the first Grand Slam of the year by defeating Henin 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

For Henin, the loss is barely a setback as her finals appearance will  still earn her tons of tour ranking points upon which to build her comeback.  Henin's best surface is clay and with the clay court season in the months ahead, look for her to be returning to the top 15 in the coming months.

For Williams, the win defends her title, legitimizes her WTA tour ranking, and adds to her already distinguished career.  Williams was ruthless at the Australian Open and always had an answer as she cashed in for her backers, yet again, although she was the pre-tournament favorite and her odds were not that long.

The men's final is still to come on Sunday with Andy Murray and Roger Federer set to go head to head.
