Serena Williams, the reigning Wimbledon champion, has not played a match since she defeated Vera Zvonareva in the final at the All England Club last season.

As a result Williams, once the rankings update on June 6th, will have just 2000 ranking points to her credit, ranking points that are ALL associated with her title from Wimbledon 2010.

Those are enough points to keep Williams ranked about 27th or so however if she does not participate in Wimbledon this season she will soon have the arbitrary ranking of 9999th. Even if she does participate in the event as many think she will, Williams will have to do exceptionally well to stay in the top 40 on tour and returning from a year off does not bode well for her chances.

Williams' schedule at her home page states: "There is no upcoming events for now." Additionally her news blog has not been updated since a post from March 4th.

Williams does have betting odds available for the Wimbledon market however that does not mean she will be participating in the grass court Slam as many sportsbooks refund bets for players that no-show tournaments.
