Meanwhile, seventh seed Tommy Robredo also fell, 6-3 6-2 to Spanish compatriot Juan Carlos Ferrero. Another top ten seed, American Mardy Fish, seeded nine, lost 1-6 6-4 6-1 to Philipp Petzschner. Other seeds to fall included Serbia's Viktor Troicki who retired with a foot injury when trailing 3-0 to Frenchman Marc Gicquel.
