Sixth seed Sara Errani is up against Johanna Larsson in the first round of the WTA Monterrey Open

Sara Errani is the No. 6 seed for this week’s WTA Monterrey Open, and will be aiming to launch a challenge for the title. Having made it to the final in Pattaya in February, the Italian stands out as one of the main competitors this week. She will now face Johanna Larsson of Sweden in the first round.

Larsson is the world No. 67, and has a 5-6 record for the year. Having made a poor start to 2011, Larsson turned her season around by making the semi-finals in Acapulco last week. She isn’t expected to beat Errani on Tuesday, but might be able to clinch a victory if she can produce one of her better displays.

Errani and Larsson have never played against each other in a WTA match, making this contest a little tougher to predict. Errani is the favourite though, and should be able to make a decent run this week. The winner of this contest will face Greta Arn in round two.
