Sixth seed Sara Errani is up against Greta Arn in the second round of the WTA Monterrey Open

Sara Errani is hoping to challenge for this week’s WTA Monterrey Open, and got her campaign underway with a confident 6-2, 6-4 win against Johanna Larsson in round one. The Italian was a finalist in Pattaya last week, and has an outside chance of winning her first title of the season. Her next match will be a second round showdown against Greta Arn.

Arn was the winner of January’s WTA Auckland Open, and also made the semi-finals in Acapulco last week. She’ll be content with how her season has started, and should be feeling pretty confident entering this match. She wasted no time in thrashing Sandra Zahlavova 6-0, 6-4 in round one, and might just be able to upset the odds here.

Errani currently holds a 2-0 head to head record against Arn, with the last meeting between the pairing occurring in 2009. Both of the matches were close, and it’s worth noting that Errani clinched her most recent victory over Arn in a third set tie-breaker.
