Sam Stosur is up against Melanie Oudin in round two of the Mercury Insurance Open.

Stosur the second seed here, would have been expecting to face Victoria Azarenka today but to her relief the Belarussian decided to take the week off after winning the Stanford title. Stosur had been beaten comprehensively by Azarenka in the Stanford semi-finals.
Instead she's up against American starlet Melanie Oudin who cruised past a lucky loser in round one. Oudin was billed as the next great hope of American tennis after her headline-making, giant-killing run at the US Open last year.
The 18 year old has made steady progress since, reaching the world's top 50. She will be relieved to be back on the hard courts after a torrid time on the clay in the spring though she was also beaten easily by Azarenka in Stanford last week.
These two played in Eastbourne a couple of months ago and Stosur eased to a 6-4, 6-4 win. The Aussie's class will surely tell this time round as well.
