Sam Querrey will begin his SAP Open campaign with a first round match against Lukas Lacko

Sam Querrey enters this week’s San Jose Open as the No. 3 seed, and has every chance of coming away from this tournament with the title. He was a semi-finalist last year, and might now be ready to push on and win the event outright. Admittedly, the competition this year is tough, so it’s going to require a huge effort from the American. He’ll be aiming to build some momentum today with a victory over Lukas Lacko of Slovakia.

Querrey is one of the most powerful players in the draw, and will be hoping to make the most of this. The indoor hard court here suits players with a big serve, and Querrey excels in this department. He might even have achieved victory last year had he not been outgunned by Andy Roddick in a third set tie-breaker.

Lacko, like Querrey, is a fairly young player. He hasn’t shown the same kind of promise as the American though, and is currently the world No. 107. It doesn’t look like he’ll stand much of a chance here, but then again, Querrey has started the season slowly. The No. 3 seed is still in search of his first win of the season. That said, if things go as expected, he should achieve it here on Monday.
