Sam Querrey will face home favourite James Ward on Thursday for a place in the fourth round of the AEGON ChampionshipsYou can watch and bet on the action from the ATP London Open at bet365Sam Querrey remains on course to defend his AEGON championships title this week, following victories over Kei Nishikori and Rainer Schuettler in rounds one and two respectively. Whilst Querrey’s powerful serve and grass court prowess were clearly on display against Nishikori, he struggled against Schuettler, and was in many respects fortunate not to be beaten by the German veteran.
Querrey will remain amongst the favourites though, and will be looking to extend his run here when he meets James Ward of England in the third round. Ward has defied expectations already to get this far, and he appears to be a tricky opponent when he’s on home soil. The Brit demonstrated this in round two by causing a huge upset against Stanislas Wawrinka.
This will be Querrey’s first ever match against Ward, and he’ll be hoping to get it over and done with as soon as possible. Ward might crumble if Querrey stamps his authority on this contest, though the world No. 216 is clearly in a giant killing mood. If Ward can find a way to deal with Querrey’s lethal serve, this could be a very exciting showdown.
