Andy Roddick leads the field in San Jose this week for the SAP Open.

World number seven Andy Roddick returns to the tour for the start of the North American spring hard court swing which culminates in Indian Wells and the Miami Masters.

Roddick has won the SAP Open three times in 2004, 2005 and 2008 and as top seed he will be hoping to bounce back from his Australian Open quarter-final exit with a fourth title.

Second seed Fernando Verdasco will be among those hoping to spoil the party. Verdasco who is making his SAP Open debut has recently slipped out of the top ten but will be a major contender this week.

Don’t count out Radek Stepanek, the defending champion. Stepanek loves these courts having made the final in 2008 and then capturing the singles and doubles titles last year.

Veteran Tommy Haas, already a threat on the North American cement will be also in the mix along with Tomas Berdych.
