Roddick is heavy favourite to win his fourth title. He has not been at his best this week but he has beaten tougher opponents than Verdasco and he has a dominant record against the Spaniard, leading their head-to-head 9-2.

Verdasco last beat Roddick on the clay of Rome back in 2005. Since then Roddick has won their last seven matches. They played once in 2009, Roddick edging a tight battle at the Rogers Cup 7-6, 4-6, 7-6.

Roddick has also been serving consistently well throughout the tournament which has seen him through tight wins over Tomas Berdych and Sam Querrey. Verdasco has yet to really inspire as all tennis fans know he can and has been a bit lucky to get away with a number of mid-match mental lapses.
