Federer has dominated Soderling in their head to head play but the Swedish number 1 has taken the last two matches.

Roger Federer and Robin Soderling have met, according to the ATP, 13 times in tour events or Grand Slam events.  However there is one extra match to look at if you factor in an exhibition play as these two top 5 ranked players met in Abu Dhabi earlier this year as well.

With with the exception of the Abu Dhabi result and with the exception of the 2010 French Open quarterfinals, Federer has won all of their other matches including several in Grand Slams from Wimbledon 2009, Wimbledon 2008, last year's US Open, and of course the 2009 Roland Garros final.

Overall Federer is 12-2 against Soderling in heads-up play and the matches played between the two have not generally been close as Soderling has won just 7 sets in those 14 matches.

Federer backers looking to bet the Swiss Maestro in tonight's match from Flushing Meadows will find him priced at -400 with BoyleSports.  Based on the head to head history those odds aren't bad despite how short they are although the fact that Soderling has beaten Federer twice in a row does mean that Federer could be challenged.
