Roger Federer faces Michael Llodra in the last 16 of the Rogers Cup today.

Federer had to work off the rust during a 7-6, 6-3 win over Juan Ignacio Chela in the second round, the Swiss' first match since Wimbledon. He will be looking to move up through the gears against Llodra, an opponent who he has not played for eleven years.
Llodra has won two titles in 2010 in Marseille and Eastbourne, preferring either fast indoor courts or grass. He finding it tougher on the outdoor hard courts where his flat hitting is not quite so effective. He crashed out in the first round of Washington last week but had a good win over fourteenth seed Nicolas Almagro here, beating the Spaniard 7-6, 6-2.
Federer will have an eye on a potential quarter-final against Tomas Berdych so he will be keen to step things up today.
