Federer returns to the tour after taking over a month off after his heartbreaking five set loss to Novak Djokovic at the US Open and the Swiss says he feels ready and refreshed ahead of his final five tournaments of 2010.
He's going for his 18th Masters Series shield this week but this is a tough opening match against the huge serving Isner. The American is ranked 20 in the world and beat Nikolay Davydenko on the way to reaching the China Open semi-finals last week. However he put in a fairly inauspicious performance in the first round in Shanghai, needing to save seven match points to beat qualifier Lukasz Kubot 4-6, 7-6, 7-6.
Federer won their only previous match in four sets at the US Open three years ago but Isner has become a much more rounded player since then and now has some serious weapons from the back of the court.
Federer will be a bit rusty but he should have enough to avoid a shock early exit.
