Roger Federer stormed back from the brink to defeat Nikolay Davydenko and reach the semi-finals.

Federer’s remarkable run of reaching all the grand slam semi-finals dating back to the 2004 French Open looked in jeopardy after a strong start from Davydenko. The Russian has defeated him twice in the past few months and looked likely to secure a third win at 6-2, 3-1 up.

However Federer over best of five sets is a different animal and the world number one reeled off thirteen games in a row from that point to take a two sets to one lead.

Davydenko rallied in the fourth set to make things competitive and saved a match point at 5-4 down.

Federer though was not to be denied and he soon wrapped up a 2-6, 6-3, 6-0, 7-5 victory.

Federer afterwards was not particularly bothered about who would be waiting for him in the semi-finals saying, Novak and Jo-Wilfried are both exceptional athletes so it''s going to be a nice match. "I''m just happy to be through."
