Roger Federer is now considered the outright favorite to win the 2010 US Open with most sportsbooks.

Roger Federer defeated Mardy Fish on Sunday in what was a very tough Cincinnati Masters final.  It was not anywhere near a one sided affair as Fish had a chance to take the title down but in the end the Swiss Maestro took down his 4th title from Cincinnati 67(5) 76(1) 64.

With back to back finals appearances in Masters events, including the outright win in Cincinnati, Federer has once again emerged as the outright favorite to win the US Open.  There are only two players that can clearly stop Federer on the hard court surface: Juan Martin Del Potro and Andy Murray.

Del Potro has announced that he will not be contesting the US Open as he continues to recover from his wrist injury and so the Argentinian will not be a factor.  However Andy Murray can be expected to beat Federer should a heads up match-up take place in Flushing Meadows.
