Roger Federer remains confident for Wimbledon despite losing the ATP Halle final to Lleyton Hewitt.

Federer had previously won his last 15 matches against Hewitt and was going for a sixth title at the Gerry Weber Open but Hewitt produced a huge upset in coming back from a set down to stun the Swiss.

This is just the second match Federer has lost on grass since 2002.  

“I’m happy with the way I’m playing,” the six time Wimbledon champion said. “It’s unfortunate not coming through, but I think my level of play is fine. This loss doesn’t worry me in any way. I’m excited about the week. And I thought it was a good tournament.”

Federer will be aiming to equal Pete Sampras’ record of seven Wimbledon crowns when the Championships get underway at the All England Club next week.
