Roger Federer and Andy Murray resume their rivalry at the Barclays ATP World Finals on Tuesday.

Federer and Murray are meeting for the third successive year in the group stages of the ATP World Finals. Murray knocked Federer out two years ago in Shanghai but the Swiss gained revenge twelve months ago, outplaying Murray 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in front of the British player's home fans.

However Murray has had the measure of Federer the past two times this year and it was very one-sided when they met in the Shanghai final last month. However, Federer was quick to point out that none of the top players have beaten each other that many times in succession.

“The top guys, Djokovic, Rafa, Murray, we've kind of beaten each other on and off,” he told the press after Sunday's win over David Ferrer. “I think nobody's beaten the other guy five in a row or something. You always look for new ways to beat them, looking back at the matches, what happened, what went well. A lot has to do with day form as well obviously, sometimes you're more hot or you're more cold and you can't do anything about it because the other guy's playing well.”

“I think we've peaked at similar times this year, me and Murray. We both played well at the Australian, in Toronto, in Shanghai, here it seems like we're playing well again. So it's somewhat similar I guess. The difference is I have the slam and the 250, 500 and 1000 titles, he has also other tournament victories, I've just been a little bit a little bit more consistent I guess otherwise I wouldn't be in front in the rankings but he's had another great season and it's going to be a tough match.”
