With Nadal into the semis, there could be a Federer vs Nadal championship Doha match brewing.

Roger Federer, the world number 2, eliminated Viktor Troiki in the quarterfinals of ATP Doha on Thursday. With Rafael Nadal defeating Ernests Gulbis, both of the top two players in the world are into the semifinals and perhaps a 1 vs 2 championship match at the 250 series ATP event is brewing.

The final score in Federer's match was 6-2, 6-2 while Nadal won by a score of 7-6, 6-3.

Nadal's semifinal opponent is not yet known however Federer will face Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the 13th ranked player in the world who would likely be in the top 8 if not for an injury plagued season from 2010.

Heads up against Federer, Tsonga has a losing record at 1-2 overall, and their most recent match was in the Melbourne Park semifinals last season. Federer took that match down in straight sets en route to the Melbourne Park title, one that he will be looking to defend later this month.

Most will be expecting a Federer win in the Doha semifinals although Tsonga, if he brings his best, is capable of upseting Federer.

Nadal will face the winner of the Nikolay Davydenko and Ivo Karlovic quarterfinal and those two veterans have started the season with impressive form.
