Roger Federer looks to avoid losing his world number two ranking to Novak Djokovic in Indian Wells tonight.
Federer has lost his past two matches to Novak Djokovic and with the Serb also claiming their US Open semi-final clash back in September, he's won a lot of big matches against Federer recently.
Djokovic has got into Federer's head in the past with the Swiss showing uncharacteristic flashes of frustration during defeats to his younger rival a couple of years ago.
However despite Djokovic's awesome form at this tournament, Federer was confident that he can avoid a third successive defeat today.
“I have beat him four times before that. That's also happened in the last six months, so I can't be doing so many things wrong,” he said. “It's just that sometimes against top players you can't win them all. It's important to have the mindset and right game plan for tomorrow, and that's what I will be thinking about tonight and tomorrow.”
The faster conditions in Indian Wells should give Federer more of a chance. Expect to see him getting forward a lot more than in Australia or Dubai. He successfully rushed Djokovic at the ATP World Finals in November and he will undoubtedly hope to do the same today.
