Federer is on championship form.
Lleyton Hewitt and Roger Federer met at the Australian Open on Monday night from Melbourne with a trip to the quarterfinals at stake. Federer, as usual when facing Hewitt, cruised to victory 6-2, 6-3, 6-4.
Hewitt was never really in the match at any point although he played well in the 3rd set and made the match slightly interesting.
For Hewitt, the loss represents his 15th straight loss to the Swiss Maestro, an embarrassing streak even against the world's number 1 player.
For Federer, the win sets up a quarterfinal showdown aginst Nikolay Davydenko. Federer had beaten Davydenko 12 times in a row before Davydenko took the last two matches.
However, Federer looks on better form now heading into the quarterfinal than he did heading into his last two matches against the Russian.
