Is the Swiss Maestro still worth backing or are we into the post-Federer age for men's tennis.
Roger Federer backers aren't too bright.
Even though Federer has failed to make a Grand Slam final in his last three efforts, his supporters are still pounding in bets on the world number 3 as though he were the second favorite for each Slam in 2011.
Here are Federer's odds for the each of the Grand Slam markets next year, all to win outright:
The future of tennis is all about this: Rafael Nadal vs his own injuries.
If he were to remain 100% for the next 16 Slams then he could threaten Federer's all-time Slam titles total. If he misses Slams due to injury or plays Slams at less than 100%, then his chances of catching Federer will go down and players like Juan Martin Del Potro, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray will have a better chance.
Del Potro, if 100%, more than anyone else on tour is the player that could steal a few Grand Slam titles away from even a healthy Nadal, especially on the hard court surface, but the injury bug is a bigger question mark on Del Potro than it is on Nadal as Rafa has been at 100% for several months now.
For the next year of Slams, you should be backing either Rafa or Del Potro. Federer backers may be in denial right now but his odds have to be considered the worst value in tennis.
