Roger Federer's odds to win the Australian Open are the shortest among all competitors.

In January 2010 Roger Federer will go for yet another Grand Slam which would also be his fourth Australian Open title ever.

Federer won the event in 2004, 2006, and 2007 and this year he is considered the favorite as bet365, for example, have Federer's odds at +225 (9/4).

Here are the other threats for the Australian Open Grand Slam title according to bet365's odds:

2.  Juan Martin Del Potro, +450 (9/2)
3.  Andy Murray, +450 (9/2)
4.  Rafael Nadal, +450 (9/2)
5.  Novak Djokovic, +500 (5/1)
6.  Nikolay Davydenko, +1200 (12/1)

As far as the true favorite goes it is likely Novak Djokovic.  He's the player that played the best post-US Open and he looks like he should be on top form down under, a place where he has won before recently.

He is our top recommendation at this point and we are skeptical about Federer hanging on to the world number 1 ranking through 2010.
