Robin Soderling takes on Lleyton Hewitt at the Cincinnati Masters.

Soderling had plenty of success on the American hard courts earlier this year, reaching semi-finals at Indian Wells and Miami. It has been a stellar 2010 for the Swede but his year received a slight blip last week when he crashed out in the third round of Toronto in three sets to David Nalbandian.

Hewitt remains admirably consistent in the slams and it invariably takes one of the top four to knock him out. However he had a poor start to the summer with opening round losses in Atlanta and Washington. He decided to miss Toronto and the decision paid dividends in the form of a first round win over Wimbledon quarter-finalist Yen-Hsun Lu here.   

Hewitt actually leads 3-0 on their head-to-head though two of those matches were back in 2004-2005 when Soderling was just coming onto the tour and Hewitt was still at his peak. However the Aussie secured a shock win over the Swede in Cincinnati last year, saving match points to win 3-6, 7-6, 6-4.
