Robin Soderling takes on former champion Lleyton Hewitt in a blockbuster opener to the Centre Court action on day four of Wimbledon.
It is many, many moons since Hewitt ruled supreme at the All England Club, way back in 2002 but even in the twilight of his career, the Aussie is capable of some serious upsets on this surface. One of the canniest competitors on grass, Hewitt has not failed to reach the last sixteen of The Championships since 2004. Last year he stunned Roger Federer to win the Halle title and took out Gael Monfils at Wimbledon before losing a tough four setter to Novak Djokovic.
Hewitt may not be in the same vein of form this time round but he schooled Japan's Kei Nishikori in round one and could pose Soderling considerable problems today.
Soderling is a placid individual but the fifth seed will not have been particularly delighted with his draw. It pitted him against recent Halle runner-up Philipp Petzschner in round one, a difficult opener which he did well to overcome 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6.
Hewitt leads their head-to-head 3-1 though all four of the matches have been played on hard courts. Soderling won the last one 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 in Cincinnati last summer.
Prediction: Hewitt to make a fast start but Soderling to reel him in, in four.
