Gasquet and Verdasco are scheduled to meet today in exhibition play ahead of the French Open.
Richard Gasquet and Fernando Verdasco are two players that are both looking to do some damage at the 2011 French Open as both players have reputations as solid clay courts.
Gasquet in particular enters as a player with momentum as he made the Rome Masters semifinals last week at the expense of both Roger Federer and Tomas Berdych. A loser in the first round last year to Andy Murray, Gasquet can count on being seeded this year and that should help him to at least a couple easy matches at Roland Garros.
Gasquet and Verdasco have met ten times in the past and by that measure they appear to be evenly matched. Each player has five career victories against the other with Gasquet going 4-2 on the clay court surface heads up.
The two players are scheduled to meet today from Paris with a starting time of 13:30pm (GMT). Verdasco is struggling with consistency at this point in his career so perhaps Gasquet has the edge in front of a partisan French crowd.
