The two remaining seeds crashed out of the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions on Friday

Aravane Rezai was the No. 2 seed here, but couldn’t keep up with Alisa Kleybanova on Friday. Kleybanova put in an outstanding performance to clinch a 6-1, 6-2 victory, and is now through to the semi’s. This result marks Kleybanova’s fourth consecutive tour victory against Rezai, who seems to struggle against the Russian on hard courts.

The final remaining seeded player in the tournament, Yanina Wickmayer, also made an early exit with a straight sets loss against Daniela Hantuchova (6-4, 7-6). Hantuchova now has a 5-0 head-to-head record against Wickmayer, and looks like a serious challenger for the title.

Saturday’s semi-finals see Kleybanova up against Hantuchova, whilst Ana Ivanovic will face Kimiko Date-Krumm. This competition has thrown up plenty of surprises so far, despite only involving eight competitors. Kleybanova and Hantuchova have a 1-1 head-to-head record, whilst Ivanovic and Date-Krumm are yet to face each other on the tour.
