Nadal and Sweeting have never faced one another however they are due to meet on Day 4's Order of Play.
Rafael Nadal earned an early submission in the first round of the 2011 Australian Open as Marcos Daniel wasn't going to have anything to do with what Rafa was dishing out. Nadal, who spent less than one hour on the court, won the first 11 games of the match that he played against Daniel and that was enough to send the Brazilian packing off early as injuries hurt a lot more when you're getting whipped.
Nadal's second round match promises to be more challenging as anyone who is capable of completing a match at this point is a better challenge than Daniel and the Spaniard has drawn Ryan Sweeting of the USA in round 2, a player who defeated Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the first round.
Sweeting cannot be approaching the match against Nadal with any kind of optimism as the American has already lost a match this season to a player ranked outside the top 450 on tour as Jose Statham eliminated Sweeting from Auckland qualifiers earlier this month.
While Nadal should play more than 11 games in the second round, Sweeting might do well to stay out on court for more than 1 hour and 45 minutes against Rafa, a player in pursuit of a clean sweep of the Slams.
