Rafael Nadal faces duel with Paul-Henri Mathieu in the fourth round at Wimbledon
Rafael Nadal is once again in with a shot at winning the Wimbledon title, but has had to dig deep in order to reach round four. Nadal has already been taken to five sets twice in this competition, and perhaps as expected, doesn’t quite appear to be as invincible as he was during the clay-court season.
Nadal faces Paul-Henri Mathieu in today’s fourth round clash, an opponent who he has a 9-0 head to head record against. Whilst this record suggests that Mathieu doesn’t stand a chance, it should be noted that none of these matches occurred on grass, so perhaps today will be different. However, Mathieu has never reached a Slam quarterfinal, and in truth probably wont get close to beating Nadal today.
Nadal’s performance will be under scrutiny today, as he stands a good chance of lifting yet another Grand Slam title if he plays at his best. If he plays with his usual class and confidence, the rest of the field have every reason to be worried about playing against him.
