Rafael Nadal is up against Julien Benneteau in the last 16 of Cincinnati.

Nadal came through 6-2, 7-5 against American Taylor Dent on Wednesday. Nadal predictably dominated the points from the back of the court and the continual pressure he put on the Dent second serve was too much for the American in the end. Nadal had a slight blip when he fell 4-2 behind in the second set but Dent's lead did not last long.

Nadal said afterwards that Dent was a tricky opponent as most of the points were so short, making it difficult to get in a rhythm from the back of the court.

Benneteau is playing some good tennis at the moment, pushing Novak Djokovic close in Toronto and getting two good wins here over Michael Llodra and Stanislas Wawrinka. 
Nadal and Benneteau are 1-1 on head-to-heads though this is their first match since the 2005 Aussie Open when a teenage Nadal won 6-0, 6-4, 6-2.
