Rafael Nadal faces Horacio Zeballos in round two of the French Open

Rafael Nadal sealed his place in the second round of the French Open on Tuesday with a 6-2, 6-2, 6-2 victory over the French wildcard entrant Gianni Mina. This was a match that Nadal was never expected to struggle in, and it was no surprise to see him dominate the match and maintain his one hundred percent record on clay this season.

Today Nadal faces Horacio Zeballos of Argentina. Zeballos looked menacing last week in the ARAG World Team Cup, but only managed to sneak through the first round after a lengthy five set encounter against Martin Fischer (7-6, 6-7, 1-6, 6-4, 8-6). Zeballos has been playing quite well recently, but doesn’t look as if he’ll have enough in his arsenal to damage Nadal’s hopes for a fifth French Open title.

A match against Zeballos would not be a straightforward affair for many players, but with Nadal playing the way that he is at the moment, this match seems unlikely to go beyond three sets. Nadal has only ever lost a match at the French Open on one occasion, against Robin Soderling last year. Zeballos will have to play as if his life depends on it to have any chance of changing that.
