Rafael Nadal is set to earn 1 million dollars from an exhibition in Mexico City against David Ferrer in December.
Nadal will square off against Ferrer on December 5th, just days after Spain's Davis Cup final with Argentina. The world number two is rumoured to earn 1 million dollars per exhibition.
However Nadal isn't the only one, cashing in on his off seasons. The season will be shorter by two weeks from 2012 onwards and Roger Federer is planning to use some of the time to compete in a series of exhibitions in South America.
Federer has already agreed to play matches in Brazil and Columbia and may also play a couple in Argentina and Chile. The 16 time Grand Slam champion has a jaw-dropping asking price of 2 million dollars per match.
"It is true that we are working to bring Federer at the end of 2012. We are trying to make one or more events and working on details such as dates and venues for the games,” Federer’s agent Tony Godsick said earlier this week.
In Brazil, Federer is likely to face the former world number one and three-time French Open champion Gustavo Kuerten, who retired in 2008. The match in Columbia is likely to be more competitive with Federer rumoured to take on either Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Andy Murray or Andy Roddick.
