2008 Queens champion Nadal was in Paris claiming the French Open title just three days ago but he made his usual rapid adjustment to the grass, overpowering his opponent 6-2, 6-2.

Nadal did not compete on grass at all last year due to a chronic knee injury sustained  during the clay-court season and as a result he has not lost on grass since 2007.

He was never going to be troubled by Daniel who is predominantly a clay specialist, something Nadal admitted after the match, saying,  "My opponent was more of a clay specialist which helped me, but I played a good match and I'm happy to be in second round.”

"This is one of the surfaces I enjoy more as I can try different things like going to net, and if I'm serving well it can help me. The last three months weren't easy, I played a lot of matches. I need to spend a few days at home but I have special motivation to play well now on grass."

Nadal now faces Denis Istomin in round three.
