Rafael Nadal looked good to defend his Indian Wells title last week before being edged out by Ivan Ljubicic.

However Nadal was satisfied with his week having looked sharp in earlier wins over Tomas Berdych and John Isner in his first tournament for six weeks.

Nadal dismissed the loss to Ljubicic as an ‘accident’ saying, “"I'm happy about how I did. I'm playing at my best level. I know that. This (loss) was an accident. I was playing well enough to win the tournament. It was an important accident, and I have to learn to try to play more aggressive next time, try to convert the opportunities." 

Nadal admitted that his backhand had let him down at times during the week and it is the main part of his game that the Spaniard will be working on ahead of Miami where he has twice reached the final.

“Probably the worst thing of this week was the backhand,” Nadal said. “I can improve for the next week, I have few days to practice the backhand, to go to Miami playing better with the backhand. And that's it. If I improve a little bit the level of the backhand, I am very ready for everything, I think.”
