Nadal wins in straight sets vs Rainer Schuettler.

Rafael Nadal  defeated Rainer Schuettler on Saturday in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California.  The match was Nadal's first since withdrawing in the Australian Open quarterfinals against Andy Murray.  The score in today's match was somewhat close at 6-4, 6-4.

Nadal now faces Mario Ancic in the third round as Ancic survived Julien Benneteau 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Nadal has lost to Ancic one time but that was back in 2004.  Otherwise Nadal is 3-1 against the former top 10 player who is currently ranked 694th on tour, a ranking that is a result of Ancic having to miss tons and tons of tennis due to reoccuring problems with mononucleosis.

This could be an interesting match although odds are yet to be released.  Should Ancic lose, which has to be the expectation, he will still pick up 45 tour ranking points, an amount that will thrust him over top of a couple hundred players on tour.
