Rafael Nadal emerges as the odds on favorite after Roger Federer loses to Marcos Baghdatis.

Marco Baghdatis defeated Roger Federer at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells as he, Baghdatis, cashed in for his backers as a +600 (6/1; bet365) underdog.  Federer failed to convert any of three match points as Baghdatis won in three sets 5-7, 7-5, 7-6.

Baghdatis now moves on to face Tommy Robredo of Spain as the tournament in Indian Wells narrows down to a field of 64 competitors.

The futures market for the event has been updated now that the favorite, Federer, has been eliminated.  Here are the odds to win for each of the serious contenders with Federer no longer in the draw:

For longshots you have to like sprinkling either Baghdatis or Tsonga to win as those two players have had strong seasons so far.  At 20 to 1 and 22 to 1 even the smallest bets pay big dividends and they are both good players to have in your picks list, especially Tsonga.

Andy Murray at +300 (3/1) with Boylesports is the player to pound however as he is now the top seed in the top half of the draw.  Should Murray face Nadal in the final you have to like the Scot's chances as he is the player on better form in 2010.  Murray would play very confidently in that situation and Nadal would likely be on his back foot for most of the match.

You may entertain the notion of taking Roddick as well as he has not lost a set yet in Indian Wells and has the potential within him to win the entire event.  He's quiet in the draw so far and looks to be the favorite to the advance to the semis against Murray but odds of +800 (8/1) might be just a little too shot to bet at this point.

Our top recommendation remains with Murray at +300 (3/1).
