Stepanek and his team-mate, world No. 9 Tomas Berdych, have made light work of the Romanian challenge, and as things currently stand the Czech Republic have already guaranteed their place in the World Group for next year.
Stepanek is under no pressure to beat Crivoi here in Bucharest, so we may be about to witness some slightly more experimental tennis than usual. That said, Stepanek is a very experience competitor, and it would be a surprise to see Crivoi claim a win here.
In fairness to Crivoi, he put up a good fight against Berdych on Friday, despite eventually losing in straight sets. If he puts in a similar effort against Stepanek he might manage to steal a set or two. Even so, Stepanek should be able to round off a successful weekend for the Czech Republic here with a straightforward victory.
