Philipp Kohlschreiber and Philipp Petzschner will contest an all-German final at the Gerry Weber Open on SundayYou can watch and bet on the action from the ATP Halle Open at bet365The fans here in Halle will be treated to an all-German final on Sunday, as Philipp Kohlschreiber is set to face Philipp Petzschner. Kohlschreiber has been in inspired form all week, and got past defending champion Lleyton Hewitt in the quarter-finals. Having done this, he topped this achievement by defeating third seed Gael Monfils 6-3, 6-3 in Saturday’s semi-finals. It looks like Kohlschreiber is now the tournament favourite.
Petzschner seems to have enough about him to make this a close contest. The underdog has already outlined his title credentials by beating eighth seed Milos Raonic in the quarters, and second seed Tomas Berdych in the final four. These results should provide the perfect springboard for Petzschner’s challenge on Sunday, and it will be no big surprise if the world No. 71 claims victory here.
Petzschner defeated Kohlschreiber earlier in the season in Dubai, but has a 1-2 head to head record against the world No. 49. There isn’t much to choose between these opponents, and we could be in for a thrilling final. This will be a significant success for the eventual winner, and we can expect both players to give it their all in front of the home crowd.
