Prior to that, she hadn’t lost a set, and had made it through the group stages in style.
The young Czech will take on Victoria Azarenka in Sunday’s final. Azarenka also topped her group, despite losing on Friday against stand in opponent Marion Bartoli. Azarenka beat Vera Zvonareva in her semi-final matchup, clinching a 6-2, 6-3 success.
"Tomorrow is the last match. It's about sudden death," stated Azarenka after Saturday’s contest. "It's the first final here for both of us. We both want to win and it'll take everything out of us. I hope we can show the best tennis we can."
Anticipating a tough match on Sunday, Azarenka said, "Petra really goes for her shots. She has lost some matches that were a little bit unexpected, but at the same time she can be on and just hit winners. I don't really want to look back into our last matches. Both times she was in her best form. Now she's playing well, but so am I."
