Petra Kvitova and Samantha Stosur will meet on Saturday for an eagerly anticipated WTA Championships semi-final showdown

After dominating the Red Group, Petra Kvitova heads into the semi-finals of the WTA Championships with every chance of earning a berth in Sunday’s final. The Czech didn’t drop a set throughout the round robin phase, and at times her superb shot making ability has been on full display.

She’ll meet Samantha Stosur on Saturday, after the world No. 7 thrashed Na Li in a qualification decider on Friday. Li was in with a chance of finishing second in the White Group, but Stosur played some outstanding tennis, and managed to leave the court with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

Both of these players have demonstrated what they’re capable of this week, and it looks like the fans here in Istanbul are about to be treated to an incredible semi-final. Kvitova and Stosur both have very strong attacking styles, and the indoor courts are ideal for them.

Kvitova has a 2-0 head to head record against Stosur, and it seems like she’s the likelier of the pairing to have the upper hand on Saturday. Even so, Stosur has more experience than the youngster in this event, and that could work out to her advantage.
