Petra Kvitova takes on Flavia Pennetta in the fourth round of the Australian Open.
Kvitova stunned the Australian fans by taking out home favourite Sam Stosur in the last round. The tall Czech showed an icy cool to hold her nerve against the experienced fifth seed and her vocal supporters.
Pennetta is also in great form, this is the furthest she's ever been at the Australian Open. She was playing some fine tennis in Sydney the week before, taking out Vera Zvonareva there.
While Kvitova is yet to drop a set, Pennetta was involved in a real dogfight of a third round match against the feisty Shahar Peer, battling through 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 to the delight of the legions of Italian sports media in Melbourne .
Pennetta leads the head-to-head 3-1 and interestingly the two players met three times in 2010. Pennetta won 6-3, 6-3 in Indian Wells and then 7-6, 6-2 on clay in the Fed Cup but then Kvitova made a name for herself by reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals and the Czech triumphed 7-6, 6-1 in the autumn on the indoor hard courts of Beijing.
Our prediction is Kvitova in three.
