It was announced today that Peng Shuai will be competing in this year’s Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions as a wildcard entrant. The first wildcard slot had been handed to former French Open champion Ana Ivanovic, and today’s news will end speculation about who will line up alongside her and six other big names in Bali.

Bali tournament director Kevin Livesey explained, “Peng Shuai is not only one of the most talented and exciting players in Asia, but she had made her mark across the world in both singles and doubles. She is no stranger to Bali after she claimed the doubles title in 2008, and we are confident that she will once again be a fan favorite as she returns to Bali for the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions."

Marion Bartoli, Andrea Petkovic, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Sabine Lisicki, Roberta Vinci and Daniela Hantuchova are currently lining up to take part in Bali, but this is subject to change. Bartoli will be unable to play if she qualifies for Istanbul, and Julia Goerges is still looking for a way to qualify. Her results in Luxembourg will determine whether or not she manages it.
