Article previews the Andy Murray versus Novak Djokovic championship match from the 2011 Australian Open.
The 2011 Australian Open men's singles final will be played on Sunday night from Melbourne, a 7:30pm local start time. For North American tennis fans that will correspond to a 3:30am ET start time on early Sunday morning.
The contestants are the two survivors from each half of the draw as Andy Murray of Scotland, the 5 seed, faces Novak Djokovic of Serbia, the three seed. Murray is back into the final after losing last year to Roger Federer while Novak Djokovic is a former champion from Melbourne Park, having defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the 2008 final.
Head to head Djokovic is 4-3 against Murray but they are 3-3 against one another on the hard court surface. Importantly, Murray has won each of their last three matches and the Scot has won each championship match that they have played in, although they have never met in a Grand Slam tournament.
According to betting odds Djokovic is the favorite (ie. bet365) although there is not a great deal between the two players in terms of betting trends.
