Second seed Djokovic will be happy to be on the grass after a disappointing clay season in which he crashed out to unfancied Austrian Jurgen Melzer in the quarter-finals.
Djokovic has some pedigree at Queens having made the final in 2008, losing to Rafael Nadal. His 2010 season has never really kick-started and the Serb has looked quite jaded for most of the first six months of the season so he will be hoping a change of surface inspires a spark in his game.
He should not have too much difficulty against Lorenzi, a clay-courter by all accounts who mainly plys his trade on the challenger circuit and is ranked 96.
